Habitat: West and Central Africa
Diet: Ball pythons can be very picky eaters and tend to only eat rodents such as mice and rats.
Fun Facts: Ball pythons are one of the most common pet snakes because of their beautiful colors and laid back personalities.
TX Rat Snakes
Species: Pantherophis obsoleta lindheimeri (Texas Rat)
Habitat: Southeast and Central USA
Diet: Rat snakes, despite their name are generalist eaters. They will eat anything from rodents, to frogs, lizards, eggs, and even other snakes.
Fun Facts: Rat snakes are known for eating chicken eggs, so they also have the nickname Chicken Snake.
Corn Snake
Species:Pantherophis guttatus
Habitat: Southeast and Central USA
Diet: Rat snakes, despite their name are generalist eaters. They will eat anything from rodents, to frogs, lizards, eggs, and even other snakes.
Fun Facts: Corn Snakes have a beautiful black and white checkerboard pattern on their belly.
Western Hognose
Species: Heterodon nasicus
Habitat: They can be found from southern Canada throughout the United States to northern Mexico.
Diet: Hognose snakes enjoy toads as its main diet but will also eat fish, rodent, snakes, and birds.
Fun Facts: When threatened, the hognose snake will play dead in hopes that a predator will not want to eat it.
Rosy Boa
Species: Lichanura trivirgata
Habitat: Southwestern United States and northwestern Mexico
Diet: Very small birds, lizards, and mammals
Fun Facts: The rosy boa is considered one of the slowest moving snakes in the world, moving at around 1 mph on open ground.
